Happen to take CS50x last year (even if you didn’t finish)? Here’s what’s new in CS50x 2014:

  • New and improved lectures! Hopefully.

  • Each lecture is now ≤ 60 minutes instead of ≤ 90 minutes.

  • Lectures are now accompanied by 106 new "walkthroughs," short videos in which David walks (more slowly) through source code from lectures plus additional examples.

  • Two new problem sets (Breakout and CS50 Shuttle)!

  • Zamyla’s walkthroughs are now integrated into problem sets' specifications and are now problem-specific (rather than large, standalone videos).

  • Sections are now intended for students less comfortable and more comfortable alike (and for students somewhere in between).

  • Course no longer requires quizzes.

  • Some new shorts!

  • Course can now be taken for (transferrable) course credit through Harvard Extension School (between 29 January 2014 and 17 May 2014).

  • Course now offers a CS50 Certificate as well as (transferrable) course credit through Harvard Extension School, if taken between 29 January 2014 and 17 May 2014, in addition to edX’s (free) Honor Code Certificate. extension.harvard.edu/learn-code-harvard for more details. See this chart to compare options.

  • Course now uses reddit for discussions, in addition to Facebook and Twitter.

  • New biweekly content produced live for online students via CS50 Live.

  • And more!
