SPEAKER 1: Math is certainly helpful for any number of areas of computer science and programming as well. But you don't necessarily need to be or feel yourself a math expert to excel in programming itself. Having comfort with arithmetic, addition, subtraction, and so forth is certainly valuable, and something you'll use quite a bit. And also, having some familiarity with algebra and the ability to express yourself symbolically with X's and Y's, and more aptly named variables than that. In certain areas, too, might linear algebra and multivariate calculus also come into play, be it in artificial intelligence or graphics. But you can work your way up to that. And certainly, you can begin to better understand the mathematic principles that you need if and when you're ready to solve some of those higher level problems.
