SPEAKER 1: OK, so our next puzzle in the packet this year was one called Roleplay. And in this puzzle, we received, again, about 1,500 submissions. For this one, about 1,100 of you were correct. And 360 of you submitted incorrect solutions. So let's hear from our friends at Meta, which solution was correct. SPEAKER 2: So this puzzle is called Roleplay. And roleplay is a puzzle about Benedict Cumberbatch and his various roles and funny pronunciations of his name. And each of the images that you were confronted with in this puzzle was a Benedict Cumberbatch role, so a thing that he acted in, and a clue phrase that referred to some of the rules of, if you read this funny blog post where a linguist explains funny ways to pronounce Benedict Cumberbatch's name or mispronounce his name, if you take each of these and you solve for a random word that is associated with it and you take his roles, you get this neat little pattern. So if we look at Cumberbatch's role in each of these movies, you'll get Smaug, Julian Assange, Alan Turing. And you'll also get a word that's being clued from the clue phrase. So for example, bendy stick cup insert is a straw. So taking each of these informations and combining them, you'll see that each of the words we include and the Cumberbatch roles, at least the last names of those roles, are the same length. And because they're the same length, you might consider putting them on top of each other. And when you do that, you'll see that each of the words have a single letter that is connected between them. So for example, smog and straw share the letter "s" at the same location. And if you do this for each of the words, you'll get one letter from each of the pairs. And in total, that gives you the word Serrano, which is the answer to this puzzle, Roleplay.
